Paddrick-Dutchess Flood Relief Project
Project Overview
The City of Tallahassee is committed to improving stormwater infrastructure and reducing flood risk in neighborhoods throughout the community. As part of this effort, the City is addressing stormwater concerns in the Killearn Estates neighborhood, specifically along Paddrick Drive and Dutchess Court.
Proposed Solution
To help reduce flooding and mitigate property damage, the City is proposing improvements to the existing Killearn Country Club pond located adjacent to the 9-hole Clover golf course. The conceptual design under consideration includes the excavation of overgrown areas in and around the pond. This would increase flood storage capacity during heavy rainfall events, reducing the likelihood of flooding in nearby areas.
The project is currently in the early design phase, and City engineers are evaluating the current drainage system, identifying existing deficiencies, and exploring potential improvements.
Community Input Needed
Community input is an important part of the design and planning process, and residents are encouraged to participate in an upcoming planning and public input meeting. This open-house style meeting will provide information on the project and gather feedback from residents. This meeting format is informal, allowing attendees to stop by at their convenience to view project concepts, current plans, and ask any questions. No formal presentation will be given, so arrival time is not critical.
